Honoring and celebrating Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane on the occasion of being elected as Pennsylvania's first female Attorney General and for her tireless efforts and contributions toward protecting and defending Pennsylvania's most vulnerable citizens by closing the Florida loophole regarding its Concealed Weapon or Firearm License.

WHEREAS, Kathleen Kane is a graduate of the Scranton public school system, the University of Scranton, and Temple University School of Law; and previously worked as a civil litigator with Post & Schell, P.C. in Philadelphia, before joining the Lackawanna County District Attorney's Office; and
WHEREAS, As part of her pro bono obligations with Temple University Law School, Attorney Kane participated in the Homeless Advocacy Project of Philadelphia and with the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Attorney Kane fought to protect Pennsylvania's most vulnerable citizens. She investigated and successfully prosecuted thousands of criminals including, but not limited to advocating on behalf of children in abuse cases including Child Pornography, Sexual Assault and Physical Abuse. Attorney Kane was an integral part of region's multidisciplinary response team to decrease child abuse and neglect; and helped to create and implement one of the one of the country's first specialty courts designed to serve justice while providing a meaningful response to incarcerating the mentally ill; and
WHEREAS, Attorney Kane, as an Assistant District Attorney established herself as a passionate advocate for public safety, bringing justice to crime victims and their families while emphasizing the importance of working with community leaders, schools, and law enforcement in a variety ways to increase crime prevention efforts; and
WHEREAS, On November 7, 2012, Attorney Kane was elected as the first female Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and
