WHEREAS, Shirley Ann Jones Gregory, born to Hattie and Harry Jones, has been a dedicated resident of Philadelphia, exemplifying community spirit from her early years in Philadelphia Public Schools, where she not only excelled but also helped raise her four brothers and four sisters as the eldest sibling; and

WHEREAS, After marrying Alvah Bruce Gregory, Sr., she and her husband raised four children-Bruce, Jr., Sheri, Shannon, and Shelly-initially residing in Germantown, where they actively volunteered in the community and supported local elected officials and Black business owners; and

WHEREAS, In 1970, Mrs. Gregory moved her family to the Olney area, where they became homeowners, further deepening her commitment to community service; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Gregory dedicated many years to the Podiatrist Abram Plon in Elkins Park, and later served as a Special Assistant to Congressman Thomas Foglietta and Congressman Robert Brady, as well as with the Democratic City Committee, leaving a legacy of dedication and service; and

WHEREAS, As the former District Director, Special Assistant, 49th Ward Leader, and Executive Member of the Democratic City Committee, she tirelessly served her community and constituents for nearly fifty years, addressing critical RCO, zoning, and legal issues; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Gregory played a pivotal role in guiding individuals into the Armed Forces and enhancing the quality of life for constituents through job opportunities; and

WHEREAS, Known for her commitment to helping others, she provided invaluable assistance in applying for housing and various essential programs, serving neighborhoods from South Philadelphia to East Oak Lane; and
