Approving the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) Registry, in compliance with the provisions of Chapter 17-1503(1)(a) of The Philadelphia Code, pursuant to Section 6-109 of the Home Rule Charter.

WHEREAS, The Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO), on behalf of the Finance Director, submitted a proposed up-to-date listing of M/W/DSBEs (OEO Registry) to City Council, with a cover letter dated April 15, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The cover letter offers an explanation regarding the steps taken to “ensure completeness of the list” as provided for in Chapter 17-1503(1)(a) of The Philadelphia Code including, but not limited to, at least monthly electronic communication with the vendors in the registry, monthly reports related to expired certifications, and a monthly confirmation of Employer Identification Numbers by the Finance Department; and
WHEREAS, The submitted listing was presented in both a hard copy and flash drive format detailing the companies listed in the OEO Registry as of April 15, 2016. The information may also be viewed electronically on the OEO website. The website provides the capability of searching the registry by company name, service or product type, and zip code among other features; and
WHEREAS, The Office of Economic Opportunity should arrange to meet and communicate
regularly with the Office of the City Council President in order to assure that all necessary additional steps are being taken to sufficiently “expand the reach of said [revised] listing” as provided for in Chapter 1503(1)(a) of The Philadelphia Code; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That City Council hereby approves the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) Registry, in compliance with the provisions of Chapter 17-1503(1)(a) of The Philadelphia Code, pursuant to Section 6-109 of the Home Rule Charter.
