Title: Amending Chapter 11-300 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Board of Surveyors," by amending Section 11-301, entitled "Street Improvements," by adding new subsections authorizing the Board of Surveyors of the Department of Streets, by resolution, to file a supplemental plan to the City Plan showing any changes in curb lines and grades that in the judgment of the Board of Surveyors will enhance pedestrian safety and improve traffic calming, provided that these changes do not affect the curb line for an entire block, under certain terms and conditions.

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

SECTION 1. Chapter 11-300 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended to read as follows:


CHAPTER 11-300. BOARD OF SURVEYORS.

ยง11-301. Street Improvements.

(6) Whenever any street is to be improved, and, in the judgment of the Board of Surveyors a partial lessening of the width of a roadway for a distance less than the entire block is desirable to improve the safety of pedestrians and increase traffic calming, a plan shall be prepared showing the proposed widths and location of the roadways, sidewalks and other surface improvements, including divisors or median strips, in accordance with a standard cross section for a street of that width on file with the Board. This plan, upon approval by the Board of Surveyors shall be filed as a supplement to the records of the confirmed plan, and shall be followed in making all street improvements.

(7) Whenever any street is to be improved, and, in the judgment of the Board of Surveyors a partial widening of the width of the roadway for a distance less than the entire block that does not affect the abutting House Line but is desirable to improve the safety of pedestrians, a plan shall be prepared showing the proposed widths and location of the roadways, sidewalks and other surface improvements, including divisors or median strips, in accordance with a standard cross section for a s...
