Congratulating Dana L. Redd on her election as Mayor for Camden, New Jersey.

WHEREAS, Dana L. Redd is a lifelong resident of Camden City, who has spent the majority of her career working in the public sector since 1990. With a firm belief in Shirley Chisholm's' motto, "Service is the rent you pay for room on this earth," Dana L. Redd has dedicated her legislative and public service to the residents of New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, Elected to Camden City Council in 2001 and subsequently re-elected in 2005, Dana L. Redd has since been a strong advocate for Camden's diverse neighborhoods and has fought for issues of fairness and parity; and
WHEREAS, Presently, Mayor-elect Redd serves in the 213th Session as a State Senator representing the 5th Legislative District. During her tenure as State Senator, she has demonstrated her leadership ability by sponsoring and passing legislation that both protects and empowers the people of the State of New Jersey. Some of her key initiatives have been legislation to help families at risk of foreclosure, increasing the income eligibility limits for the Homestead Property Tax Reimbursement Program also known as the Senior Freeze and legislation that protects the rights of victims of domestic violence in terminating lease agreements without penalty; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her duties and responsibilities as a legislator, Mrs. Redd also served as Camden City Council Vice President, Vice Chair of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee and was a Super-delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention who pledged her support to then US Senator Barack Obama. She has also contributed her time and talents to numerous organizations throughout the region including the Camden County American Red Cross, Camden County Board of Social Services, the Camden Eye Center and Fairview Main Street Board of Directors; and
