Honoring Coach Willie “Billy” Void for an impactful life and coaching career of more than 35 years mentoring hundreds of student athletes all across Philadelphia as owner and coach for Positive Image Youth Organization.

WHEREAS, Coach Billy was a born and raised Philadelphian with a lifelong passion for athletics and youth engagement; and
WHEREAS, Coach Billy always took a youth-focused approach to anti-violence and community engagement that allowed him to impact nearly 800 youth a year; and
WHEREAS, As Board member of the Olney Eagles Youth Organization, Billy was able to demonstrate his love of sports beyond basketball to include football, focusing on ages 5-14; and
WHEREAS, He became owner and coach at Positive Image after inheriting the organization from founders like Bill Williams, former coach and basketball standout and honoree; and
WHEREAS, Positive Image basketball league started 25 years ago and focuses on using athletics as the main driving tool teaching valuable life lessons while trying to develop youth academia; and
WHEREAS, From shaping athletic skills in coaching to ensuring academic success by taking children to school or transporting them to practices, coach Billy dedicated his life to ensuring the success of hundreds of youth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honors Coach Billy Void for an impactful life and coaching career of more than 35 years mentoring hundreds of student athletes all across Philadelphia as owner and coach for Positive Image Youth Organization.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Void’s family as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
