Celebrating the 10th Annual Easter Promenade on South Street.

WHEREAS, Philadelphia is a city known for its celebrations; and
WHEREAS, For the last nine years, families have gathered along the South Street corridor to promenade and celebrate the Easter season; and
WHEREAS, The Promenade draws thousands of people dressed to the nines, who strut, stroll and promenade down South Street behind the procession in their best or wackiest outfits to compete in categories ranging from Best Dressed Family to Best Hat to Best Dressed Pet to Most Outrageous Costume; and
WHEREAS, Each year the Promenade gets bigger and better. It is a colorful celebration of spring with mummers, horse-drawn carriages, mascots, clowns and, of course, the Easter Bunny; and
WHEREAS, This year's Promenade and competition will once again be emceed by Henri David and will feature such celebrities as Mayor John Street, Councilman Frank DiCicco, Commerce Director James Cuorato, Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate the South Street Headhouse District on the upcoming Easter Promenade. We urge one and all to come down to South Street on Easter Sunday and share in the fun.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the South Street Headhouse District as evidence of the best wishes and congratulations of this legislative body.
