Honoring Wayne Miller on being honored as the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 40, Irish American Labor Leader of the Year.

WHEREAS, Wayne Miller was born and raised in Philadelphia; and
 
WHEREAS, Wayne began his work as a Sprinkler Fitter in 1974; and
 
WHEREAS, Wayne steadily rose through the ranks of Sprinkler Fitters Local Union #692 from working on installation in some of the city's finest development projects to becoming a member of the union executive board and its President; and
 
WHEREAS, Wayne became a business agent in Local Union #692 in 1991 and became Business Manager of Local Union 692 in 2000; and
 
WHEREAS, Wayne's leadership in the labor movement is not restricted to Local Union #692, he is also a member of the Philadelphia Building Trades Council, Vice President of the Mechanical Trades District Council, and a trustee in the National Automatic Sprinkler Industry Pension and Supplemental Pension Funds; and
 
WHEREAS, Wayne has also made significant contributions to the community as a basketball coach, as co-chairman of the “All Star Labor Classic” which raises over $100,000 for United Cerebral Palsy and as a co-chairman of the Philadelphia Building Trades Charity Golf Outing and the Little Flower Golf Outing; now therefore
 
RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PHILADELPHIA, That we recognize the notable contributions of Wayne Miller to the labor movement and the City of Philadelphia; and
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That we honor him on being recognized as the “Irish Catholic Labor Leader of the year”; and
 
RESOLVED FURTHER, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Wayne Miller as evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
