Title
Declaring September 2003 as Voter Education and Voter Registration Month in the City of Philadelphia, and recognizing the League of Women Voters for its continuing efforts to register and educate voters.
Body
WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia benefits from having an educated and informed citizenry voting in elections; and
 
WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia appreciates the efforts made by the League of Women Voters to promote urban voter education; and
 
WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia recognizes that the League of Women Voters expends significant time, money and other resources attempting to increase the number of citizens registered to vote; and
 
WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia fully supports the League of Women Voters' ongoing campaign to increase urban voting; now therefore
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That September 2003 is hereby declared to be Voter Education and Voter Registration Month in the City of Philadelphia.
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Heidi J. Gold, President of the League of Women Voters of Philadelphia, and Kay McKenna, President of the League of Women Voters, Southeastern Region of Pennsylvania, as evidence of the sincere appreciation of this legislative body for the continuing efforts of the League of Women Voters to register and educate voters in Philadelphia.
