WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Philadelphia recognizes that small businesses are essential to the life of our neighborhoods, creating gathering spaces, generating local opportunity, and contributing to the character, energy, and economic strength of communities across the City; and

WHEREAS, Thee Pink Plate Cafe, led by Executive Chef Carri Green and co-owner Serina Yusuf, has grown from its early food service roots into a distinctive Philadelphia business known for its vibrant identity, welcoming atmosphere, catering and event services, and menu of soul food and brunch offerings; and

WHEREAS, Carri Green and Serina Yusuf began by serving customers throughout Philadelphia before opening a brick-and-mortar establishment, demonstrating the entrepreneurship, determination, and creativity that continue to define Thee Pink Plate Cafe's success; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 2025, Thee Pink Plate Cafe opened its current brick-and-mortar location on Wadsworth Avenue in Philadelphia's Ninth Council District, marking an important milestone in the business's growth and its continued investment in the surrounding community; and

WHEREAS, Over the past year at its Wadsworth Avenue location, Thee Pink Plate Cafe has continued to serve as more than a place to dine, providing a welcoming gathering space for residents, families, and visitors while contributing to the vibrancy of the Wadsworth Avenue commercial corridor and the broader Ninth District community; and
