Honoring the Temple University Women's Basketball Team on winning the 2004 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship.

WHEREAS, The Temple University Women's Basketball Team won the 2004 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship Final; and
WHEREAS, This is the second time in three years the Temple Women's Team has won the Atlantic 10 Basketball Championship thereby receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Dawn Staley, a Philadelphia native, was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
WHEREAS, Sophomore center Candice Dupree, collected a game high 11 rebounds and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Championship; and
WHEREAS, Senior guard Christena Hamilton, was named to the Atlantic 10 All Championship Team and led the Owls with a team-high 14 points; and
WHEREAS, Junior Ari Moore, also earned all tournament honors, and scored six points and grabbed eight boards; and
WHEREAS, The members of the team consisting of: Cynthia Jordan, Chrissy Cruz, Jennifer Owens, Candice Dupree, Stephanie Hicks, Toni Belafonte, Tynecia Pam, Gwen Browne, Kamesha Hairston, Britney Jordan, Stephanie Douglas, Christena Hamilton, Ari Moore, and Mercedes Miller all contributed to a successful 2004 season with a record of 21 wins and 9 losses; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That The Temple University Women's Basketball Team is honored for winning the 2004 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That and Engrossed copy of the resolution be presented to Coach Dawn Staley and the members of the championship team as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
