Declaring October 6th to the 13th, 2010 as “Beat the Reds Week.”
Body
WHEREAS, The Phillies are the oldest continuous, one-name, one-city franchise in all of professional American sports; and
 
WHEREAS, The Phillies have had an excellent season, winning the National League East Division Championship for the fourth time in a row; and
 
WHEREAS, The Phillies have won two World Series championships and seven National League pennants; and
 
WHEREAS, The Reds have not scored in 20 innings nor won in the last six games at Citizens Bank Park since 2009; and
 
WHEREAS, No team's rotation is better set for the postseason than the Phillies which has Roy Halladay, Roy Oswalt and Cole Hamels, each having a history of success against Cincinnati; and
 
WHEREAS, The Phillies have more experience than the Reds, and the City of Philadelphia has Phillies-fever and is cheering the Phillies all the way during their playoff run; and  
 
WHEREAS, It is imperative that the Phillies continue their winning streak over the Reds; now therefore
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby declares October 6th to the 13th, 2010 as “Beat the Reds Week.”
