Honoring and Recognizing Captain Maximilian Clark for his continued service in the United States Navy for over 20 years, and his appointment as the Commanding Officer of the USS Mesa Verde.

WHEREAS, Captain Maximilian Clark was born and raised right here in Philadelphia, before he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1992 with a B.S. in Physics, along with receiving an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College; and
WHEREAS, Captain Clark has spent over 20 years serving in the United States Navy, initially assigned to the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron, completing deployments on the USS Enterprise and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower; and
WHEREAS, Captain Clark has served under several operations, including Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE; and
WHEREAS, Captain Clark served as the Executive Officer and Commander of the Dragonslayers Squadron from 2009 to 2011, deploying from the USS Enterprise supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and anti-piracy operations; and
WHEREAS, Captain Clark then moved on to serve on the staff of the U.S. Joint Forces command, where he served as a Congressional Liaison Officer; and
WHEREAS, Captain Clark served as the Executive Officer of the USS Harry S. Truman from April 2014 to April 2016, the aircraft carrier was deployed under Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, supporting the fight against ISIS in the Middle East; and
WHEREAS, Captain Clark has been the commanding officer of the USS Mesa Verde since May 2017, a ship designed to transport and land Marines, along with their equipment & supplies, holding a crew of 360 sailors along with many troops onboard; now, therefore, be it
