Title
Deferring Drexel University's proposed amendment to its Institutional Development District Master Plan pursuant to Chapter 14-1107(c) of The Philadelphia Code relating to “Zoning and Planning”.
Body
WHEREAS, By resolution dated October 17, 2005, the City Planning Commission recommended approval of Drexel University's proposed amendment to its Institutional Development District Master Plan allowing Drexel to construct a dormitory at 33rd and Race Streets in the 3rd Councilmanic District of the City of Philadelphia; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Planning Commission anticipated that Drexel University and the Powelton Village Civic Association would continue to negotiate their differences pending action by City Council pursuant to Section 14-1107(c) of The Philadelphia Code; and
 
WHEREAS, Chapter 14-1107(c) requires City Council to approve, disapprove or defer Drexel University's proposed amendment to its Institutional Development District Master Plan within 45 days of City Planning's recommendation or the amendment is presumed approved; and
 
WHEREAS, the parties will not be able to reach agreement within the 45 day period and additional time will allow Drexel University and the Powelton Village Civic Association to continue to negotiate an amicable resolution to their differences concerning the proposed amendment to Drexel University's Institutional Development District Master Plan; and
 
WHEREAS, Drexel University's proposed amendment should not be approved until an agreement is reached between Drexel University and the Powelton Village Civic Association; now therefore be it
 
RESOLVED, That City Council defers Drexel University's proposed amendment to its Institutional Development District Master Plan pursuant to Chapter 14-1107(c) of The Philadelphia Code.
