Renaming the 3900 Block of Conshohocken Avenue "Bishop Keith Reed Way" to honor Bishop Keith W. Reed Sr. for his incredible work as a preacher, teacher, lecturer, and counselor.

WHEREAS, Keith W. Reed Sr. began his esteemed service to the church in 1982, becoming a pastor for the Sharon Baptist Church of Philadelphia and its 200 members; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reed strengthened the church's presence across generations through the creation of a multitude of ministries in 1982, and started the first group of 12 men to personally disciple in 1984; and
WHEREAS, He expanded his ministry through mentorship and education, establishing the annual Institute on Church Growth East in 1986; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Reed developed the Sharon Baptist Bible Institute in 1988 to empower followers of the church with education; and
WHEREAS, Under his outstanding pastoral leadership, the church experienced exponential growth and transitioned to a newly built edifice holding 3500 followers in 1999; and
WHEREAS, He provided counseling for his members to carry on his service not just as a preacher but as a spiritual advisor for marriages, families, and individuals; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reed was consecrated as a Bishop in 2007, affirming his innovative leadership, and established the Progressive Holistic Ministries of Churches, serving as the overseer to 18 Pastors and their respective churches; and
WHEREAS, He built the Sharon Community Center in 2009 to serve as a hub for community support and outreach; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Reed was bestowed with the great honor of a Living Legend by the E.K. Bailey Preaching Conference, avowing his exemplary service and unwavering commitment to Jesus Christ; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Renaming the 3900 Block of Conshohoken Ave "Keith Reed Way" to honor and celebrate the dedicated life of Bishop Keith W. Reed Sr. for his work as a preacher, teacher, counselor, and renowned leader.
