The Council of the City of Philadelphia is pleased to join in tribute to Ms. Vikki Leach on the Tenth Anniversary of her Bridal Extravaganza.
WHEREAS, Ms. Leach held the first Bridal Extravaganza in this City in February, 1992, and since that time, the event has grown in size, programmatic offerings, vendors, participation and enthusiasm; and
WHEREAS, The initial impulse of the Bridal Extravaganza was to show brides and grooms of color, culture and taste who rarely saw themselves on the runway. It also offered visibility to underexposed professionals who might otherwise not have the opportunity to display their wedding-related skills and services. It should also be noted that in 1993, Elite Unlimited Modeling and Training Facility, which teaches young people manners, style, grace, responsibility and dedication, was chosen to train the models for the runway; and
WHEREAS, Today, the audience for this Extravaganza has grown to nearly one thousand guests, many of whom make final bridal arrangements right at the event; and
WHEREAS, We recognize that although Ms. Leach lists her occupation as Professional Wedding Coordinator and Events Planner, that hardly begins to define her many skills or her important role in the community. For all of this, we thank her on her tenth anniversary of fulfillment and success; now, therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and commend Ms. Vikki Leach on the occasion of her Bridal Extravaganza's Tenth Anniversary.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Ms. Vikki Leach as evidence of the sincere admiration, high esteem and hearty congratulations of this legislative body.
