Recognizing and honoring Shawn Bullard, the nation's "First Black Bachelor," the star of WE-TV's "Match Made in Heaven," life-long Philadelphia resident and successful development entrepreneur, for his many achievements and successes.
Body
WHEREAS, Shawn Bullard, known as "The First Black Bachelor," was raised in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia attended Bishop McDevitt High School, and went on to attend Temple University; and
WHEREAS, Bullard thrived in both academics and athletics while at Temple, as a scholar-athlete for the football team and an All-American in track and field, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Recreation Management with a minor in Tourism and Hospitality; and
WHEREAS, Bullard went on to play football in the National Football League for three years, before devoting his energy to his real estate and investment business; and
WHEREAS, Bullard has built a successful real estate development company from a small personal loan he took out while still an undergraduate student, expanding to new construction, property management and small business ownership; and
WHEREAS, Bullard has been recognized by several notable organizations for his achievements as a real estate developer and investor, and in 2009 The Fox School of Business announced Mr. Bullard as the winner of the distinguished "Be Your Own Boss" Bowl, making him the first African American to receive this honor; and
WHEREAS, Bullard is now the star of the nationally televised WE-TV show "Match Made in Heaven," as the first African American in this role; and
WHEREAS, Bullard gives back to the local community by mentoring youth in Philadelphia; now, therefore, be it
