Recognizing the Week of October 13, 2008 as Certified Nursing Assistants Week in the City of Philadelphia.

WHEREAS, Certified Nursing Assistants serve an invaluable role in the healthcare of the elderly; and
WHEREAS, These individuals are caring, hardworking, supportive professionals who are dedicated to performing an outstanding job in nursing homes throughout the City of Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, The work of these professionals is not often recognized or noticed; and
WHEREAS, On Thursday, October 16, 2008 Ralston Center will present its annual Caregiver Award, which recognizes Certified Nursing Assistants in nursing homes in the City of Philadelphia, whose performance exemplifies excellence in the care of the elderly; and
WHEREAS, The Ralston Center, located at the historic Ralston House in West Philadelphia, is a non-profit organization that provides wellness programs and services for older adults; and
WHEREAS, The Ralston Center's mission has been quality of life in aging since the organization was founded in 1817, with the purpose of enriching the lives of people, particularly as they age; and
WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia is a better place because of the work and commitment of the Ralston Center and Certified Nursing Assistants working in Philadelphia nursing homes; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Philadelphia City Council joins Ralston Center in Honoring all Individuals in this Profession by Designating the Week of October 13, 2008 as Certified Nursing Assistants Week in the City of Philadelphia; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented as a Sincere Expression of City Council's Appreciation and Recognition.
