Honoring Donna Blatch.

WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Philadelphia is pleased and proud to honor Ms. Donna Blatch for her more than 30 years of civic and community service to the City's Mt. Airy and Wadsworth communities; and
WHEREAS, Donna Blatch is a product of the Philadelphia public school system, where she graduated from William Penn High School for Girls. Thereafter, she attended Cheyney University, earning a B.S. in Elementary Education. Ms. Blatch then completed a M.A. in Elementary Education at Temple University; and
WHEREAS, For over 32 years, Ms. Blatch was an elementary school teacher, and during her tenure with the School District of Philadelphia, she taught at Carver Elementary School (1964-1968), East Falls Elementary School (1968-1970), and S.W. Pennypacker Elementary School (1970-1997); and
WHEREAS, In her work as an advocate for her community, Donna Blatch serves as the Secretary of the Inter-Community Development Corporation and Youth Coordinator for the annual Wadsworth Day Celebration. Additionally, she has served former State Representative and Councilman John F. White, Jr., former State Representative Gordon Linton, and Councilwoman Marian B. Tasco in varied capacities including campaign manager and campaign advisor; and
WHEREAS, In addition to being a civic leader, Ms. Blatch is a dedicated and committed member of Triumph Baptist Church, where she has served the congregation in various capacities including but not limited to her work as president of the Hospitality and Special Events Ministry, as Triumph's fundraising and curriculum chairperson for the School Board, and as a church volunteer for the Federal Credit Union; and
WHEREAS, Donna Blatch is a devoted and attentive member of her community, and she is led to her stellar ideals of community service through her commitment to the Romans 8:28 scripture, which reads: "And we know ...
