WHEREAS, Hugh J. Dillon, known colloquially as HughE Dillon or PhillyChitChat, was born in 1963 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and has become one of Philadelphia's most recognizable and beloved chroniclers of civic life, society events, philanthropy, arts, culture, and community moments; and
WHEREAS, Dillon is a Philadelphia-based photographer and blogger who created the online publication PhillyChitChat in 2007 to document social and cultural life across the region. It has since become a leading news, lifestyle, and event platform with 90,000+ followers; and
WHEREAS, Dillon's work spans photography, writing, and social media coverage, and his images and columns regularly appear in major local media outlets, including Philadelphia Magazine, Philly.com, Metro Philadelphia, Philadelphia Style Magazine, Main Line Today, CBS Philly, and Fox 29; and
WHEREAS, Dillon's presence at charity galas, cultural festivals, community fundraisers, art events, restaurant openings, and social gatherings has helped amplify Philadelphia's robust network of cultural institutions and community initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Dillon has become a trusted figure in the Philadelphia region's media circles, known for his respectful approach to photography, his warm personality, and his unwavering support for civic life. He continues to be a "big cheerleader for Philadelphia" whose work connects people and highlights important causes; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honors and applauds HughE Dillon aka PhillyChitChat for his remarkable contributions to the cultural and social life of the City and celebrates his work chronicling the spirit of Philadelphia.
