Honoring Myra Brown for being the first African American Female to be designated to the position of Board Chair of Women’s Way Organization, her exemplary work throughout the city of Philadelphia, and leadership among women.

WHEREAS, Myra Brown has been an advocate for the disenfranchised to gain sustainable and long-term employment; and
WHEREAS, With 34 years of senior human resources and executive leadership experience, she has held positions as Director of the Philadelphia branch of CareersUSA; Regional Business Services Director for PA Careerlink; Deputy Executive Director of a local Human Services agency; and Director of Human Resources and Diversity for the Philadelphia Orchestra Association; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Brown has a certification in Professional Human Resources and is a graduate with several degrees from Temple University; and
WHEREAS, She has been an instrumental member of the Boards of Directors for Girls Rock Philly, The Aids Law Project of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia International Airport Capacity Enhancement Project; and
WHEREAS, Myra was recently named a 2019 Woman Up and Minority Business Leader of the Year by the Philadelphia Business Journal. She is a Goldman Sachs 10KSB Alumni; now, therefore, be it,
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA That we recognize and honor Myra Brown for Women’s History Month.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of the resolution be presented to Myra Brown as evidence of the gratitude of this legislative body.
