Recognizing the members of the Philadelphia Police Department that were deployed to the site of the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center in New York, for their hard work and professionalism in providing support in the victim identification and investigation effort.

WHEREAS, On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, the United States experienced a horrific and tragic terrorist attack at the World Trade Center in New York City, resulting in the collapse of the two 110-story towers and thousands of innocent civilian casualties; and
WHEREAS, As a result of this tragedy, countless relief workers and investigators from around the country offered their time and expertise at the site of the World Trade Center in the search, rescue, and recovery effort, as well as in the victim identification and investigation effort; and
WHEREAS, There were four members of the Philadelphia Police Department's Crime Scene Unit in place in New York City, including: lieutenant Mark Fisher, Police Officer John Taggert, Police Officer Terry Lewis and Police Officer Mike Vincent as well as one civilian Criminal Evidence Specialist, Leo Rahill; and
WHEREAS, There were two members of the Philadelphia Police Department's K-9 Unit in place in New York City, including: Police Officer Paul Bryant, and Search Dog Azeem; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby recognizes the members of the Philadelphia Police Department that were deployed to the site of the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center in New York, for their hard work and professionalism in providing support in the victim identification and investigation effort.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the members of the Crime Scene Unit and K-9 Unit of the Philadelphia Police Department that were deployed to New York City for their hard work and courageous effort in the face of extreme tragedy and danger.
