Recognizing, honoring and celebrating Imhotep Institute Charter High School on its 25th Birthday.

WHEREAS, On February 9, 1998, 25 years ago, Imhotep Institute Charter High School was granted its Charter; and
WHEREAS, Imhotep Institute Charter High School continues to achieve and fulfill its mission to create a standards driven, high-quality educational environment for urban learners; and
WHEREAS, Since its opening Imhotep has maintained a 90-100% graduation rate, which is higher than the Pennsylvania state average of 87%; and
WHEREAS, Imhotep has won second and third place in the citywide MESA Competition for creating a robotic prosthetic arm, their football team was the first public school from Philadelphia to win the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association State Championship, their Track Team Placed in States and their Basketball Team won States; and
WHEREAS, Imhotep Institute Charter High School's teaching model is focused on the desire to help students explore their own potential and the magnificent boundaries of science, technology and mathematics; and
WHEREAS, Imhotep's mission is to nurture lifelong learners and valuable members of the world community, while allowing the student to integrate knowledge with life experience; and
WHEREAS, Imhotep takes seriously the belief that education should help students understand the nature of the society they live in and how to creatively improve it, and that learning should be pursued with joy, discipline and tenacity; and
WHEREAS, Imhotep provides an environment where students assume responsibility and consequences for their own actions; and
WHEREAS, Imhotep promotes a safe, calm and disciplined environment in which students can discover and develop their talents; and
WHEREAS, Imhotep has high expectations for each student and their parents while fostering a spirit of unity; now, therefore, be it
