Title
Urging the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to oppose the proposed privatization of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Wine and Spirits Stores.

Body
WHEREAS, In the Governor's budget address delivered on March 9, 2011, the Honorable Tom Corbett announced a new task force aimed at the privatization of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board ("PLCB");

WHEREAS, The state store system is an asset that currently generates more than five hundred million dollars annually, providing a steady and increasing source of revenue to the state treasury;

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That this Council hereby urges the Governor and the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to oppose the proposed privatization of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Wine and Spirits Stores.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk is directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution t...
