Resolution honoring and recognizing Brinkman’s Bait and Tackle shop, and the Brinkman family for their 56 years of business ownership, community work, and commitment to their customers before their retirement.
Body
WHEREAS, In 1961 William Brinkman purchased the store for his parents, while he continued to work for the Department of Recreation; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brinkman worked for the department for over thirty years, taking care of the Linden avenue boat ramp, parking lots, as well as running a cane pole program for young kids; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brinkman turned over the store to his two sons Bruce and Bill in 1980, knowing they would continue the Brinkman legacy; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Brinkman, a veteran, began working full time for the store after he got out of the service in 1968, while Bill Brinkman began his full-time work in 1977, at 16 years old; and
WHEREAS, The Brinkman family is willing to answer questions honestly on an extensive list of fishing areas, including the Delaware River, Schuylkill River, Wissahickon creek, Pennypack Creek, and many more; and
WHEREAS, Their dedication to their work has created an incredible loyal customer base, who have kept their small business going for so many years; and
WHEREAS, The Brinkman family has been continuously running the store since 1961 at the same location, 4999 Linden Ave, which has become their heart and soul; and
WHEREAS, The Brinkman family have retired from ownership of the shop, and passed it on to a new owner, and are wishing the new owner the best of luck; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby recognize and honor recognizing Brinkman’s Bait and Tackle shop, and the Brinkman family for their incredible work as small business owners, and providing a quality service to the citizens of Philadelphia.
