WHEREAS, Keith J. Brune, A.A.E., IAP, has served as a dedicated leader in the City of Philadelphia Division of Aviation, culminating in his roles as Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from June 2022 to December 2023 and Chief Operating Officer (COO) since October 2017; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brune has been instrumental in overseeing the day-to-day operations of both Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Northeast Philadelphia Airport (PNE), ensuring smooth operations across landside and airside operations, security, terminal maintenance, and capital development, with a keen focus on partnerships, collaboration, and regulatory compliance; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brune has developed, monitored, and implemented a $70 million annual operational budget and managed an expansive team of over 1,000 City employees, along with contracted staff, to ensure Philadelphia's airports remain world-class facilities; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his 30-year tenure, which began in 1991 as an Airport Operations Officer, Mr. Brune has held multiple roles, including Airport Operations Superintendent, Deputy Director of Aviation-Operations and Facilities, and more, demonstrating his commitment to excellence in aviation; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brune's leadership was crucial during Operation Allies Welcome, where PHL processed over 28,000 passengers and 317 flights, showcasing his ability to handle complex, high-stakes operations with poise and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brune holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, is an Accredited Airport Executive and an Accredited International Airport Professional, and has been actively involved in organizations such as the Aviation Council of Pennsylvania, USO of PA/NJ, and the Governor's Aviatio...
