Honoring and congratulating Dr. Alycia Marshall on her appointment as President of the Community College of Philadelphia
Body
WHEREAS, Dr. Alycia Marshall, a distinguished educator, administrator, and advocate for student success, has been named the next President of the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) following a comprehensive national search, marking a new chapter of visionary leadership for one of the city's most vital public institutions; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marshall had been serving as Interim President of CCP, and previously as Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Success, where she oversaw Academic Affairs, Workforce Development, and Student Support and Engagement, guiding the College through a period of renewal and transformation; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marshall brings to CCP more than two decades of leadership and teaching experience at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland, where she served as a tenured mathematics professor, department chair, and Associate Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marshall earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Maryland, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Bowie State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, grounding her leadership in both academic excellence and a passion for teaching and equity; and
WHEREAS, The Community College of Philadelphia, the City's largest public institution of higher education, serves more than 17,000 students annually and remains a cornerstone of access, affordability, and workforce opportunity for Philadelphians from all walks of life; and
WHEREAS, Under Dr. Marshall's stewardship, CCP is poised to strengthen its mission to remove barriers to higher education, expand partnerships with employers and four-year universities, and empower students to achieve lasting economic mobility and civic engagement; now, therefore, be it
