WHEREAS, January 31, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a medical transport plane carrying a pediatric patient, tragically crashed along Cottman Avenue in front of the Roosevelt Mall in Northeast Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, This devastating accident resulted in the loss of at least seven lives and left twenty-four others injured; and

WHEREAS, The horrific events of that day deeply affected not only the people of Philadelphia, but also the entire state of Pennsylvania, and the nation as a whole; and

WHEREAS, In the face of danger, emergency responders acted with swift courage, providing immediate aid to those affected by the crash; and

WHEREAS, After immediate danger had passed, first responders continued to secure the site, maintain safety, clear debris, and investigate the incident to better understand its cause and prevent future occurrences; and

WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia is grateful to the brave members of the emergency response teams who risked their lives to respond to the scene, selflessly offering assistance to the injured and affected parties; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honors and thanks the Philadelphia Police Department, the Philadelphia Fire Department, the Pennsylvania State Police, the National Transportation Safety Board, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Office of Emergency Management, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency , and the American Red Cross f...
