Honoring the Inner City Warriors Youth Football Team for winning the National United Youth Football League 2021 Championship in Plant City, Florida.

WHEREAS, On Friday, December 10, the Inner City Warriors won the 13U open division 2021 Championship in the National United Youth Football League; and
WHEREAS, Over 200 youth football teams from across the country converged in the Tampa suburb of Plant City, Florida, for the United Youth Football League Championships, the city's 11th consecutive year hosting the event; and
WHEREAS, This group of young men have been playing together since 10U in 2018, and over the last four years the team has had a record of 40-17-1 on the field; and
WHEREAS, In order to continue to grow and realize their dreams, Coach Kevin Moody and his childhood friends started their own youth football organization in Fall 2020 and the team became the Inner City Warriors; and
WHEREAS, Their extensive training through the pandemic allowed the team to have a 7-0 record in the 2021 football season, and they only allowed two points to be scored on them all season; and
WHEREAS, The Inner City Warriors were accepted into the National United Youth Football League 2021 Tournament. The team was able to raise the money needed in 30 days by selling Krispy Kreme donuts and raffle tickets to tailgaters at the Eagles' last two home games; and
WHEREAS, All the team's hard work was realized as they swept through the tournament and won the 13U open division 2021 championship in the National United Youth Football League; and
WHEREAS, These young athletes' determination and perseverance in the face of challenges including an ongoing pandemic have made Philadelphia proud on a national stage and are eminently deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, This Council hereby honors the Inner City Warriors Youth Football Team for winning the National United Youth Football League 2021 Championship in Tampa Bay, Florida.
