WHEREAS, Michael J. Woodard is a 20-year-old singer who is a native of the East Falls Section of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Michael's talents were on national display when he won a ticket to Hollywood to be featured on the latest season of American Idol. The competitive singing series originally aired on June 11, 2002 and recently completed its 16th season; and

WHEREAS, On the show, Michael shined, with his performances characterized as "magical" by judges of the competition. Throughout the competition, Michael remained a fan favorite across social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter; and

WHEREAS, Michael made it to the top 5 before being eliminated from the competition on May 13, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Prior to being on American Idol, Michael was the winner of the Hub Network reality series "Majors and Minors" in 2012; and

WHEREAS, This summer, Michael will tour across the United States with the rest of the American Idol Contestants who made it to the competition's top 7 for the "American Idol Live!" Tour, which kicks off July 11th in Redding, California; and

WHEREAS, Michael is also a former intern of the Office of Councilman Curtis Jones, Jr., where his bright personality, dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on the office and City Hall; and

WHEREAS, Michael's success on American Idol has made the residents of the City of Brotherly Love immensely proud, and it is evident that this will not be the last stop for his singing career; now, therefore, be it
