Recognizing and honoring the Philadelphia Police Department and law enforcement personnel for their hard work during the largely peaceful Eagles’ Super Bowl Parade.

WHEREAS, The Eagles’ Super Bowl Parade was held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 and traveled from Lincoln Financial Field northbound on Broad Street and concluded at the Philadelphia Museum of Art; and
WHEREAS, This historic celebration of our Super Bowl Champions drew hundreds of thousands of fans from across the region; and
WHEREAS, The day-long celebration went on largely without incident thanks to the vigilance and hard work of the Philadelphia Police Department and other law enforcement personnel; and
WHEREAS, Police officers and law enforcement personnel traveled on foot, in cars, on horseback and in the air to ensure that our residents were safe during the historic Super Bowl Parade and festivities; and
WHEREAS, Philadelphia police officers also celebrated the Eagles’ victory all while keeping everyone safe as they were seen waving flags from fans in the crowd and throwing footballs with fans; and
WHEREAS, Police Commissioner Richard Ross rightly stated “This City works as a team, and we respect and appreciate the men and women who have answered the call to serve our City as members of the Philadelphia Police Department and law enforcement”; and
WHEREAS, We are proud of the Philadelphia Police Department and law enforcement personnel for their work during the parade and we are proud to demonstrate to other cities that such events can be celebrated in a fun and safe way; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby recognizes and honors the Philadelphia Police Department and law enforcement personnel for their hard work during the largely peaceful Eagles’ Super Bowl Parade.
