Honoring the Community Life Improvement Program on the occasion of their 15th Anniversary.

WHEREAS, The Community Life Improvement Program, better known as CLIP, was created on April 2, 2002 in conjunction with Mayor John Street's Neighborhood Transformation Initiative by long time Councilmember Joan Krajewski; and
WHEREAS, Originally designed to address quality of life issues in the 6th Councilmanic District, CLIP can now be found on a city-wide level. The Community Life Improvement Program consists of several programs dedicated to improving the appearance of neighborhoods throughout the City of Philadelphia through the eradication of blight. Last year CLIP cleaned over 15,000 vacant lots and 3,000 exteriors of properties. These programs are designed to maximize effectiveness and efficiency by inspecting and abating entire blocks; and
WHEREAS, CLIP encourages businesses and residents of the City of Philadelphia to get involved in their neighborhoods and partner with CLIP programs to make a difference. Their Community Partnership Program (CPP) assisted over 500 organizations last year and has supplies and resources available for neighborhood cleanups to foster sustainable communities; and
WHEREAS, CLIP's Graffiti Abatement Teams are rapid response teams dedicated to the quick removal of graffiti vandalism and has been in existence for over twenty years. This division of CLIP has been working with community organizations and business associations since 1996 removing graffiti vandalism from over 1 million properties; and
WHEREAS, CLIP truly appreciates those groups that have partnered with the program and wishes to recognize the effort and the remarkable results that have come with these partnerships. Only through the combined efforts of community organizations, business associations, elected officials, city, state and federal agencies working together can the quality of life truly improve in neighborhoods throughout the City; now, the...
