Declaring July 10, 2005 as American Cancer Society - Bike-A-Thon Day in the City of Philadelphia.

WHEREAS, The thirty-third annual Bike-A-Thon from Philadelphia to the Jersey Shore will commence on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at 6:30- A.M. at the Ben Franklin Bridge.  Over 3,000 riders will bike sixty-two miles to the Jersey shore.  Super Cyclist have the option to ride a full one hundred miles; and
 
WHEREAS, Each rider is encouraged to seek sponsors, and the public is encouraged to sponsor riders for this most worthy charitable and fun event; and
 
WHEREAS, In 2004, the American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon raised over one million dollars for the fight against cancer; and
 
WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Bar Association Team with 171 cyclists raised over $100,000 dollars for the American Cancer Society in last year's Bike-A-Thon and were the largest single contributing organization for the event;  now therefore
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we declare Sunday, July 10, 2005 as American Cancer Society - Bike-A-Thon Day in the City of Philadelphia.
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of the resolution be presented to Jeffrey Abramowitz, of Weitzman, Klevan & Abramowitz, P.C. on behalf of the Philadelphia Bar Association for their outstanding contributions to this most worthwhile cause, and we wish you a smooth ride!
