WHEREAS, The Preparatory Charter School of Mathematics, Science, Technology and Careers (PCS) was established in 1998 by its founder and CEO, John Badagliacco, and is presently located at 1928 Point Breeze Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, The Preparatory School of Mathematics, Science, Technology and Careers' mission is to provide a nurturing and challenging atmosphere in which students in grades nine through twelve will acquire the knowledge and experience they need to prepare them for college, and for productive and fulfilling lives in their communities. The PCS also strives to simultaneously help its students achieve high academic standards and develop essential career skills, while also giving them extensive experiences in service to their community; and

WHEREAS, The Preparatory Charter School of Mathematics, Science, Technology and Careers entered into the City of Philadelphia Public League sports competition in the 2000-01 season, providing a variety of program for both boys and girls. In the year 2004, the City of Philadelphia joined the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) as District XII; and

WHEREAS, On March 24, 2007, at the Jordan Bryce Center in University Park Pennsylvania, Preparatory Charter School of Mathematics, Science, Technology and Careers became the first school representing the City of Philadelphia to win consecutive (2005-2006 and 2006-2007) PIAA Boys' Basketball Class AA Championships. In addition to this feat, Prep Charter High also had the distinct honor of being crowned City of Philadelphia, District XII (Public League) Boys' Basketball Champions on March 2, 2007; now therefore
