THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:
 
§17-204. Disposition of Surplus Computer Equipment to Non-Profit Organizations.
 
a) The Council of the City of Philadelphia hereby finds that:
 
WHEREAS, The Procurement Department of City of Philadelphia regularly disposes of city agency surplus computer inventory resulting from technology upgrades and/or the phasing out of outdated computer equipment; and
 
WHEREAS, Currently the City has a policy of having city agencies either donate certain surplus computer equipment to the School District and/or sell certain surplus computer equipment for revenue purposes; and
 
WHEREAS, Throughout the City of Philadelphia there are a number of non-profit organizations that provide valuable services to the citizens of Philadelphia, whose services could be enhanced by the use of certain surplus computer equipment; and
 
WHEREAS, It would be in the best interest of the citizens of Philadelphia and the City of Philadelphia that certain surplus computer equipment to be used by certain non-profit organizations that provide services to the community under certain terms and conditions.
 
b) The City of Philadelphia through its Procurement Department shall donate fifty (50%) percent of all surplus computer equipment to certain non-profit organizations that provide services to the citizens of the City of Philadelphia, under certain terms and conditions.
