Honoring the Eastwick Project Area Committee (PAC).

WHEREAS, The Eastwick PAC was organized in 1971 when three civic organizations came together to provide an opportunity for citizen participation in community development and planning, especially in urban renewal areas; and
 
WHEREAS, From those small beginnings, the Eastwick PAC has continued to grow in size, citizen participation, services offered and member organizations. Today, its annual contract is with the Office of Housing and Community Development, and it has had a high degree of success in providing services to Eastwick; and
 
WHEREAS, The Eastwick PAC service area boundaries 58th Street, East; to Bartram Avenue and Route 291 on the West; Amtrak (Glenmore Avenue) on the North and Essington Avenue and the Airport on the South. This area encompasses approximately 40,000 residents, all of whom are included in the PAC; and
 
WHEREAS, The Eastwick PAC provides information and referrals regarding housing, employment and training opportunities, assistance in emergency situations, promotion of block clean ups and blight removal initiatives and meetings at which citizen participation is encouraged; and
 
 
WHEREAS, With a strong Board of Directors, a devoted and committed staff and numerous dedicated volunteers, the Eastwick PAC, now celebrating its 30th anniversary of service, has become a stronghold in the community and a source of pride for all of Eastwick; now therefore
 
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and commend all the members of the Eastwick PAC as they celebrate thirty years of excellence and service.
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Board of Directors of the Eastwick PAC as evidence of the high esteem, sincere admiration and hearty congratulations of this legislative body.
