Declaring the City of Philadelphia a Hidden Hero City in recognition of the important work and vital role of military and veteran caregivers in the City.
Body
WHEREAS, The mission of the Hidden Heroes is to raise awareness to the critical role of military and veteran caregivers, while ensuring that they have the proper support resources available to them; and
WHEREAS, There are currently more than 5.5 million military and veteran caregivers in the United States; and
WHEREAS, There are 128 Hidden Hero cities across America dedicated to recognizing and supporting those who care for veterans and those in the military; and
WHEREAS, There are currently only two Hidden Hero cities in Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh and Allegheny County; and
WHEREAS, In Pennsylvania there are ten Veterans Affairs hospitals, including one here in Philadelphia, which work tirelessly to provide care to veterans and those who are in the military; and
WHEREAS, Philadelphia has made great strides in addressing concerns raised by those in the veteran and military community, including the creation of the Veterans Advisory Commission; and
WHEREAS, There are over 25,000 veterans who live in Philadelphia, who deserve to have access to the proper resources and care at their disposal; and
WHEREAS, There needs to be a unified effort to provide the same support to veterans and those in the military as to the Hidden Heroes who provide care for those who have and continue to serve our Country; and
WHEREAS, Our military heroes, including veterans, military, and their caregivers deserve our utmost support and recognition for the service that they provide to all of those who have served our Country; now, therefore
RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA Declares Philadelphia a Hidden Hero City in recognition of the important work and vital role of military and veteran caregivers in the City.
