WHEREAS, The Honorable Nicholas M. D'Alessandro is preparing to retire from the bench of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County, where he has diligently, fairly and impartially administered justice since 1980; and

WHEREAS, Prior to his service in the Court of Common Pleas, Judge D'Alessandro graduated from Temple University Law School in 1959; he then practiced law from 1959 until 1977; after practicing law, he then served as a judge of the Municipal Court of Philadelphia from 1977 until 1979; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Nicholas M. D'Alessandro distinguished himself in many professional and humanitarian capacities such as: being on the Board of Trustees of the Citizens Crime Commission; being a founding member and past president of the Greater Roxborough Lodge 2217 - Order Sons of Italy in America; being on the Racial and Gender Fairness Committee of the First Judicial District; receiving the Volunteer and Dedicated Service to the Poor Award; receiving the Award for Excellence as a Trial Judge by the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association; receiving the Order Sons of Italy in America District 1 Outstanding Service Award; and receiving the Hattal-Taylor VFW Post 333 Alvin P. Mosier Memorial Award for years of dedication to the veterans of the 21st Ward; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Nicholas M. D'Alessandro has carried out his duties and obligations as an attorney and judge with honor and distinction, and has consistently exhibited compassion and diligence in the practice of law, the administration of justice, and in his involvement in various organizations as well as interactions with the citizens of Philadelphia; now, therefore,
