Recognizing, Honoring, And Celebrating The Martin Luther King High School Cheerleading Squad - For Capturing The First Place Prize In The Non-Pyramid Division Of The Philadelphia Public League Cheerleader Competition.

WHEREAS, On March 8, 2007, 12 schools competed for the Non-pyramid Division Title of the Philadelphia Public League Cheerleader Competition at Community College of Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Martin Luther King High School was represented in the Cheerleader Competition by a Cheerleading Squad made up of a 17 member female team who is coached by Ms. Katie Weislo; and
WHEREAS, The Martin Luther King High School cheerleading squad has won all-star and high school competitions in North Carolina and throughout the Philadelphia area, with the assistance of Cheerleading choreographer John Rolle; and
WHEREAS, Martin Luther King High School is part of a nationally recognized organization that builds educational quality for low-income children and youth through its work with schools, school districts, after school organizations, municipalities and communities; and
WHEREAS, The Martin Luther King High School cheerleading squad won the first place title and championship through "their dedication and hard work" which is a milestone that the squad finds truly rewarding and especially gratifying; and
WHEREAS, Cheerleading is a nationally recognized sport that encompasses teamwork, gymnastics and dance, requiring hard work and commitment on the part of team members to master difficult and complex routines; and
WHEREAS, The Martin Luther King High School Cheerleading squad embodies the true "I have a dream" spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King through their accomplishment, dedication and winning tradition in their chosen athletic field; now therefore
