WHEREAS, The Chosen 300 Ministries was founded in 1996 when founder Brian Jenkins turned an encounter with a man experiencing homelessness into three decades of service to the West Philadelphia community; and
WHEREAS, The Chosen 300 Ministries has provided meals, groceries, outreach, resources, and support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, hunger, and economic hardship; and
WHEREAS, The Chosen 300 Ministries is committed to addressing hunger, homelessness, poverty, and the everyday needs of the community in the West Philadelphia area and has brought together churches, businesses, community organizations, government leaders, volunteers, students, and residents to serve people from all backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, The Chosen 300 Ministries had dedicated 30 years to serving others, and has dedicated themselves to aiding and serving some of Philadelphia’s most vulnerable residents while remaining deeply connected to the West Philadelphia community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the 3900 Block of Lancaster Avenue also be named “Chosen 300 Way” in honor of their legacy, impact, and service to the West Philadelphia community.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed Copy of this Resolution be presented to the Chosen 300 Ministries as a token of our appreciation and acknowledgement of their lasting impact on the West Philadelphia community.
