Calling on the City Council of Philadelphia to recognize Forman Mills for their $10,000 Give-Back Giveaway as they exemplify and demonstrate the powerful, positive impact businesses can make in our community.

WHEREAS, On Thursday, February 12, 2015, Forman Mills partnered with the Philadelphia City Councilwoman Jannie L. Blackwell, Senator Tina Tartaglione, and others around the City for a $10,000 Forman Mills Giveback Giveaway event; and
WHEREAS, The West Philadelphia and Rising Sun Avenue Formal Mills stores participated in giving vouchers for winter gear to those in need; and
WHEREAS, The Salvation Army, The Sheridan Middle School and Iheartradio also partnered with Forman Mills, Councilwoman Blackwell, and Senator Tartaglione to identify people in need and make the event a success; and
WHEREAS, This has been an especially cold and frigid season for many individuals, and the donation of thousands of dollars worth of coats and other cold weather equipment makes a meaningful difference in the quality of life among the neediest residents in Philadelphia this winter; and
WHEREAS, In 1985, the first Forman Mills Factory Clothing Warehouse superstore opened in an old warehouse in South Philadelphia. What began as Rick Forman's simple flea market venture has grown into a nationally-respected brand with 35 stores in ten states; and
WHEREAS, Forman Mills demonstrates that the business community cares about the citizens of Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, We encourage all businesses to be strong community partners who care about their customers, and their neighbors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF PHILADELPHIA, Recognizes Forman Mills for their $10,000 Give-Back Giveaway as they exemplify and demonstrate the powerful, positive impact businesses can make in our community.
