Honoring the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. and encouraging Philadelphian's to place the blue star in their window as a sign of support for our troops.
Body
WHEREAS, The Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-discriminatory, non-profit program; and
WHEREAS, The Blue Star Mothers work includes working with legislators on legislation for active duty military personnel and veteran's issues; and
WHEREAS, The Blue Star Mothers have a mother's association, a father's association, and an associate members association and eligible members include mothers, fathers, spouses, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who have a loved one who is serving in the armed forces or who have served with an honorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, The Blue Star Mothers are encouraging their membership, families, friends and veterans to display the blue star in their window as a sign of support for our military; and
WHEREAS, The blue star is a symbol of hope and grave concern, it also symbolizes pride in the commitment of America's youth and serves as a reminder of the seriousness of the war effort; now therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we honor the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. for their commitment to America's servicemen and women and veterans; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, We encourage residents of Philadelphia to fly the blue star symbol as a sign of their support for Philadelphia members of the armed services; and
RESOLVED FURTHER, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Jean Campbell as evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
