Honoring Linda Seyda.

WHEREAS, Linda Seyda is retiring after 34 years of service to the City of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Seyda spent a good deal of her childhood living in Mount Airy, where she attended the C.W. Henry and Houston Schools. Her father was the pastor of Nativity Lutheran Church located in North Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Her family relocated to State College, Pennsylvania, where Linda received her bachelor's degree from Penn State University; and

WHEREAS, Linda was drawn back to the City she loved as a child, returning to Philadelphia and accepting a position as a management trainee with the Free Library
back in 1968; and

WHEREAS, Linda gradually rose through the ranks due to her diligence and dedication, culminating with her appointment as Deputy Personnel Director in 1982 and as the first female Director of Personnel in 1994; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her tremendous success with the City, Linda also managed to obtain her Master's Degree in Public Administration from Temple University in 1980; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure with the City, Linda served under the administration of six different mayors; and

WHEREAS, Linda has served this City in a number of other capacities, including as a member of the Board of Pensions and Retirement, the City Representative on the six Union Health and Welfare Boards, and as a member of the City's bargaining team; and

WHEREAS, Linda also had the wonderful opportunity to meet a fellow employee, Bob Boris, who would later become her husband. They will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in May, 2002; now therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and commend Linda Seyda for her 34 years of service to the City of Philadelphia and its' residents.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Linda Seyda, further evidencing the grateful appreciation of this legislative body. We wish he...
