WHEREAS, Father Timothy R. Lannon, S.J., is the twenty-sixth President of Saint Joseph's University, and he is in his fifth year as President of Saint Joseph's University; and
WHEREAS, Under Father Timothy R. Lannon's stewardship, St. Joseph's University has made an indelible commitment to Philadelphia and the immediate neighborhood surrounding its campus; and
WHEREAS, Saint Joseph's was named to the 2006 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction for General Community Service; and
WHEREAS, Father Timothy R. Lannon,S.J., the consummate standard bearer of the Jesuit tradition of scholarship and service, and Saint Joseph's University is proud to offer an open campus in metropolitan West Philadelphia that benefits and service the needs of this community; and
WHEREAS, Father Timothy R. Lannon, S.J., under his stewardship, oversees many programs designed by St. Joseph's University, to enhance the minority population in higher education and West Philadelphia bright and gifted minority students are the beneficiaries of these programs; and
WHEREAS, Pathways to Careers in Mathematics and Computer Science (PACMACS) program provides local, academically talented minority public high school students study at the college level; and
WHEREAS, the Community Scholars Program offers classes in the evening and weekends to highly motivated minority high school students; and
WHEREAS, the Summer Bridge Program is for diverse middle-school children in West Philadelphia to begin early becoming acclimated to higher education and experiencing academic challenge in a university setti...
