WHEREAS, In July, 1909, a small group of Philadelphia insulator and asbestos workers assembled to safeguard their freedom to work in the City of Philadelphia and, this assembly was the first meeting for Local 14 members; and

WHEREAS, In the year 2009, the Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local 14 will complete its 100th year and begin its second century, with a initiative to continue its success for the next 100 years; and

WHEREAS, The Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local 14 is known in Philadelphia and the surrounding area as a leading trades organization that is committed to the employment and safety of its members. Thus, Local 14 will continue to prosper because of its dedication to maintaining high levels of employment, to quality work-products, and to innovative programs to keep its members healthy and strong; and

WHEREAS, For the last 100 years, Local 14 is known as a mainstay and as a contributor for much of the major infrastructure development in the City of Philadelphia: the Philadelphia Stock Exchange Building, 30th Street Station, the oil refinery in Marcus Hook, the PSFS Building, ships used in World War I and II (built in Philadelphia), the revitalization of historic buildings in Center City, the Gulf Oil Refinery, Liberty Place One and Two, the Philadelphia International Airport, the Kimmel Center, the Comcast Center, and Lincoln Financial Field; and

WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia looks forward to yet another century of excellent local building trades leadership from Local 14, and its further support for the public and for the commercial building initiatives in the City of Philadelphia; now therefore
