WHEREAS, Dietz and Watson was founded in 1939 by Gottlieb Dietz, a talented young German sausage maker. His primary goal was to produce the most flavorful, highest quality deli meats in the marketplace, to please even the most discriminating palate; and

WHEREAS, His old-world recipes and commitment to "quality above all" demanded nothing less than the freshest lean beef, ham, pork turkey breast and chicken breast. He then added only the finest all-natural spices and seasonings gathered from around the world; and

WHEREAS, Today, at Dietz & Watson, the third generation of the family continues Gottlieb Dietz's dedication and commitment in preparing their Premium Deli Meats and Artisan Cheeses; and

WHEREAS, In fact, all of their standards exceed those set by government guidelines; and

WHEREAS, The Dietz and Watson mission has always been both perfection and originality. This is how they prepare wholesome, nutritious and uniquely premium meats; and

WHEREAS, Their Master cheese makers create our hand-churned, small batch cheeses with the same commitment to "quality above all"; and

WHEREAS, In 1975 Dietz and Watson relocates to its present Philadelphia location, committed to creating state-of-the-art facilities for the safe preparation and handling of premium deli meats; and

WHEREAS, Since 1975 these facilities have been continually expanded and upgraded to maintain our demanding, uncompromising wholesomeness standards set by Gottlieb Dietz and employs over 500 Philadelphia residents and processes over one million pounds of deli meats and cheeses a week; and now therefore

THE CITY COUNCIL OF PHILADELPHIA, Congratulates Dietz and Watson on their 70th Anniversary and presents this resolution to president Louis Eni, grandson of Gottlieb Dietz and thanks the family run business of Dietz and Watson, including Chris, Cindy and matriarch 84 year old Ruth Dietz Eni and wish them 70 more...
