Calling for the Planning Commission to investigate and determine means by which the City of Philadelphia can affect the placement of Satellite Dishes and Cable antenna on building facades.
Body
WHEREAS, The popularity of Satellite and cable television has led to the placement of satellite dishes and cable antenna on numerous households throughout the City; and
 
WHEREAS, In many cases such dish and antenna are placed on building facades without regard to any aesthetic or public safety; and
 
WHEREAS, There are several residential blocks where multiple satellite dishes have been placed on a single building; and
 
WHEREAS, Such placement is considered by many to be a blight on the community; and
 
WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia should have some input as to the manner and method of the placement of such dishes, particularly on a building façade; and
 
WHEREAS,  Satellite and Cable antenna placement to a large extent fall under the purview of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC); and
 
WHEREAS, Several municipalities are petitioning the FCC for relief from the non regulated placement of dishes and antenna, taking place without municipal input; now therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Philadelphia calls on the Planning Commission to investigate and determine means by which the City of Philadelphia can affect the placement of Satellite Dishes and Cable antenna on building facades.
