Congratulating the Community College of Philadelphia's Men's Basketball Team for winning the Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association State Title Game.

WHEREAS, The Community College of Philadelphia's Men's Basketball Team succeeded in winning their third State Championship in the last four years; and
WHEREAS, Coach Robert Dondi DeShields led his team to a 97-83 victory over Potomac State College of West Virginia with the help from Rashaad Slappy and Tyrone Hill who had a combined 54 points and Hill dominated the boards with 26 hard fought rebounds; and
WHEREAS, The Colonials orchestrated a brilliant comeback against the Catamounts that portrayed the hard work and dedication that the team demonstrated all season; and
WHEREAS, The Colonials won back to back championships in 2007 and 2008 and after a tough 2009 season the team made it back and were victorious in 2010 setting a record for the school's men's team; and
WHEREAS, Coach DeShields had such an outstanding season that he was named Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association coach of the year becoming the first African American to receive this impressive award; and
WHEREAS, The Colonials went undefeated in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference with 20 wins and went 34-1 overall; therefore
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, We hereby congratulate the Community College of Philadelphia's Men's Basketball Team on winning the Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association State Title Game.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Community College of Philadelphia Men's Basketball Team, further evidencing the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
