WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Philadelphia is pleased and proud to honor Rev. Dr. Albert F. Campbell on the 44th Anniversary of his faithful service and pastoral leadership of Mount Carmel Baptist Church and for his several years of civic and community service to the citizens and institutions of the City of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Albert F. Campbell was born in 1932 in Wichita, Kansas. During his early years, Rev. Campbell knew he had a passion to serve the Lord and his faithful servants. In an effort to pursue his dream, Rev. Campbell went to earn his degree from Bishop College in Dallas, Texas. He then went on to earn his Masters in Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in New York in 1963 and later at Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary he received his Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree in 1984; and

WHEREAS, in 1961 Rev. Campbell began in his career at the Beulah Baptist Church in New York. After five years, Rev. Campbell relocated his family to Philadelphia where he became the pastor of Mount Carmel Baptist Church located at Fifty-eighth and Race Street. During his tenure, the church has experienced substantial growth in membership and an increase in recreational and social activities; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Campbell is one of the most influential and well-respected members of the clergy in the Greater Philadelphia community. In this regard, he served on numerous boards and commissions including but not limited to the Mount Carmel Baptist Federal Credit Union, the Eden Cemetery Company, the Greater Philadelphia Urban League, the Free Library of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Prisons and the New Courtland Elder Services; now, therefore be it
