WHEREAS, In 1960, sitting around a musty conference room at the Land Title Building at Broad and Sansom Streets in Philadelphia, Norman Zarwin, Harris Baum and Lionel Prince decided that it would be easier to practice law as partners than as solo practitioners. They soon formed the law firm that fifty years later would be known as Zarwin, Baum, DeVito, Kaplan, Schaer & Toddy, P.C.; and

WHEREAS, The firm's humble beginnings belie the sophisticated, fifty-attorney law firm that currently sits in its meticulously appointed Philadelphia office on the 13th floor at 1818 Market Street and riding the waves of economic times - good and bad - the firm stayed true to the founding partners' goals of hiring top talent and providing excellent legal services at fair and competitive rates; and

WHEREAS, The firm has grown and prospered during the past five decades, expanding to three satellite offices in Bethlehem, Jersey City and Marlton. It has a diverse list of practice areas that include real estate, corporate, commercial litigation, environmental, banking, immigration, estates, custodial abuse and neglect, employment law, casualty defense and personal injury; and

WHEREAS, The law firm has always been fully committed to Philadelphia. Many of the members of the firm are extremely active in charitable, political and civic organizations. The leaders of the firm strongly advocate charitable involvement for all its employees. Included in this is the firm's charity of the month program, the Annual Turkey Give-Away to needy Philadelphia families and its March Madness Networking Event benefitting the local food bank, Philabundance; and

WHEREAS, Norman P. Zarwin has been actively involved in a variety of charitable, philanthropic and civic organizations, serving as an officer and/or board member for Golden Slipper Club & Charities, Jewish Natio...
